Uhmmm, about Marnie, well still finding out who I truly am. So far, I found a need to satisfy my thirst for adventure, and one way has been through exploring the globe (only explored 15% of the globe apparently). Other ways that I have satisfied my thirst for adventure have been skydiving a few times, scuba diving many times where I encountered a numerous occasions grey nurse sharks and wobbegongs as well as exploring sea caves and night diving, snowmobiled in the middle of Iceland, glacier hiking, tried my hands at flying manual pitch propeller control airplane, spent 30 days on a Nepal hiking trip where I climbed to Mt Everest Base Camp and Thorong La mountain pass north of the Annapurna Himal, and generally experiencing new cultures and trekking.
I’m a New Zealander from New Plymouth (north island of New Zealand - lived near the mountain that looks like Mt Fuji) but lived most of my life in Queensland Australia in a place called the Gold Coast and then a rural town just outside of Toowoomba. Before turning to a digital nomad life for the past year doing house sitting in Australia and New Zealand, I lived in Wellington New Zealand for 2 years working in the cyber security industry. As of today, I have lived and worked in 3 countries (Australia, New Zealand, and USA) and have visited 25 countries to date with so many more to visit.
Also a co-founder of Hyplon Security. We’re in the cyber security industry specialising in building customised information security programs and cyber safety training too. Before working in the cyber security industry, I have held business leadership roles for over 15 years and have worked on a private education board and not for profit boards including holding a Rotary Board Member position. Went to university as a mature age student and gained three post grad degrees in business, information technology, and cyber security. Each time I graduated it was celebrated with a trip overseas.
Since my first solo hiking adventure in Nepal in 2017, I’ve fallen in love with solo travel. It’s been an incredible confidence booster, pushing me out of my comfort zone, while still allowing me to share my experiences with family and friends. Since then, I’ve traveled solo to Iceland, Portugal, parts of Belgium, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and New Zealand.
That’s a bit about me—ultimately, my mission is to fill my travel journal with inspiring content, sharing the places I’ve loved so you can discover and enjoy them for yourself too.
